frequently asked questions
about ayurveda
Is Ayurveda a
Religion?
No, Ayurveda is a Science that developed based on Acceptance,
Observation and Experience. Ayurveda is a Mind-Body
Science that aims to optimum health and quality of life
of humans. Please read What is
Ayurveda?
How can Ayurveda
proclaim itself a Science without experimentation?
Experimentation is the observation of certain phenomena
over a certain period of time, recording the results
and observing again and again and repeating the same
experiment several times. Ayurveda has been doing exactly
that over 5000 years, is the oldest Medical Science
in the planet. It comes from the Vedas, which is the
unparalled wisdom on Life, the Universe and the Self.
Is Ayurveda's
goal to replace Alopathic Medicine?
Ayurveda is different than Alopathic Medicine, its goal
is to prevent dis-ease and increase the well-being of
humans. Alopathic Medicine is great in case of trauma,
serious infection and surgery, but it truly lacks a
preventive side. Ayurveda is here to work side by side
with every medical system in existence. Ayurveda offers
a tool that any other medical science offers, the categorization
of the body humors or Doshas.
These tools help understand why things happen, Ayurveda
is interested in treating humans, not diseases nor symptoms.
Do I need to change
my lifestyle when treating with Ayurveda?
Ayurveda understand that dis-ease is something we create, and
it can be "unsolved" the same way it was created.
Ayurveda doesn't see dis-ease but imbalances and they
must be corrected with diet, meditation, exercise and
certain minor changes. Normally the changes in the diet
depend on the severity of what is being treated. Ayurveda
is a Mind-Body Science and this relationship needs to
be treated as well in order to correct imbalances. The
good thing is that most of the new habits are just that,
habits, easy life changes that will invariably make
you feel better. An Ayurvedic LifeStyle is about honoring
our Divine Nature and bringing balance to our bodies
effortlessly and taking responsibility for our own health.
