what is meditation?
everything in creation
is energy constantly vibrating at different levels,
from the grossest or slower to the subtlest or faster.
matter is the grossest, your thoughts are some of the
subtlest manifestations of energy.
During Meditation the individual
experiences the subtlest levels of his/her energy field.
The more the person meditates, the easier it is to experience
it. The subtlest levels of energy is where the never-changing,
ever-lasting peace resides; at this level you will find
infinite intelligence, infinite creativity, Pure God.
Meditation is the Self,
experiencing the Self, for the enjoynment of the Self
. Wow! this definition can be very abstract or deep.
What meditation does is to quite the mind naturally,
so the meditator can enjoy some time without thoughts.
Did you know the average person has between 60000 to
90000 thoughts per day? Put under perspective, that
is a lot of thoughts, and it gets even worst if around
80% of them are involuntary. The average human being
conciously produces only 20% or less of the thoughts
per day. The more voluntary thoughts you have the greater
your conciousness, the more in peace you are, the better
your life is.
When you meditate the
mind takes a natural route to go deeper than sleep conscious
level, it is at this level that our brain waves slow
and synchronize and the brain and the heart take a very
deep rest, deeper than during sleep. Being the brain
and the heart our too more important organs, since we
cannot live without either of them, giving them a rest
sounds like a great idea. At this level, there is no
desire to move, to speak, to think, to feel, no desire
at all. The moment in itself satisfies all desires,
it is at that moment that the Self is experiencing the
Self.
It is a common idea that
the more a person thinks the more in control of his/her
life is, but is totally the other way around, in fact
too much thinking leads to dementia and irrational acting.
The least amount of involuntary thoughts you have the
best, why?, because that means that you have control
over your mind completely. Remember that the way you
achieve this is not by trying to control your mind,
since meditation itself must be completely effotless,
that's why the technique you use is so important. The
more you meditate the more control you will have over
your mind naturally, effortlessly and kindly. Each meditation
will accumulate over the previous one, each day life
will get better, the lack of invonlutary thoughts will
transform into complete present moment awareness, or
living the present moment always.
Ask yourself this question:
Which are some of the happiest moments you have in life?
A party, the movies, a restaurant, eating, practicing
a sport, doing any activity you love to do? What do
they have in common? That your mind is completely there
with you and it is not wandering in a million things
at a time, trying to solve and fix uselessly, wasting
amazing amounts of energy that could be used in other
ways.
